‘Life of Bria’ creator and illustrator Sabrina Symington has published five graphic novels and posts her work online, tackling everyday life, and topics like ‘coming out’ and ‘trans sports’
Sabrina Symington is a transgender graphic novelist, creator of Life of Bria, head illustrator of Zombie Robot Comics, and “a huge fan of dinosaurs.” Some of her comics tackle tough transgender political issues, while others are just for fun. She also takes particular delight in illustrating custom, hand-drawn birthday/greeting cards for people.
Sabrina told Our Queer Art that “Right now, a lot of my focus has been on making and posting webcomics online addressing issues surrounding the transgender community. Usually they’re very lighthearted, but oftentimes I feel the need to express very personal feelings and experiences related to being trans.”
“It’s all very cathartic, and has helped me deal with a lot of emotional crises during my transition. I especially enjoy visually representing the dismantling of anti-trans arguments using reason and logic. THAT is something that has had an immensely positive impact on my emotional state, and I will definitely be doing more of it.”
