HOLYOKE, Mass. — Some of the voices inside Caroline White’s head have been a lifelong comfort, as protective as a favorite aunt. Dr. Anke Stallwitz, a professor of social and community psychology from the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Freiburg in Germany, came to Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside in March to conduct a study of violence in drug-dealing situations.
