Housing for all not a right, Ontario Court of Appeal rules in rejecting Charter challenge
Ontario’s Court of Appeal has quashed a landmark Charter challenge on the right of homeless Canadians to affordable housing. But the divided decision by the three-judge panel, released Monday, leaves the door open to an appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada, say lawyers who launched the case in 2010 on behalf of four homeless Torontonians and an affordable housing advocacy group.
