RCMP battles stigma of PTSD in effort to encourage members to seek mental health support

On the RCMP’s YouTube channel, amid the public safety announcements and career ads, is a video titled “Peter’s story.” Added last week, the video tells the tale of Peter Neily, a constable who garnered attention a few years ago when he fired 30 shots at an armed suspect in B.C., killing him. Even though he was cleared of wrongdoing, Neily withdrew from family and friends and turned to alcohol. “This was me basically staying away from everyone, staying at home, staying out of everyone’s way and drinking myself to sleep,” he recalls in the video.   Read the rest of this story at Canada.com…
