Lea Ross and Bev Cole have been working to help people in a Nepalese village to obtain water for its schools
After organizing several treks to Nepal after her first visit there twenty years ago, Lea Ross has “fallen in love” with the country and its people. Lea told the Nanaimo Daily News that she now wants to “give back to the country that has given me so much.” Her Nepalese guide for six treks had invited her to Seduwa, his home village, and a project was born.
The Seduwa Water Project is working to provide drinking water and latrines to the elementary and secondary schools in the village.
Lea and her project partner Bev Cole formalized a relationship with the social justice committee at John Barsby Community School in September 2010 which has helped to raise funds needed for the work in Seduwa. A fundraiser on November 17 and 18, 2012 is being held to raise the $5000 needed to finish what was started in 2010.
