This year’s [2009] B.C. provincial election will include a referendum on whether or not B.C. citizens want to adopt a new electoral system based on the concept of a “single transferable vote”. In our first look at the upcoming provincial election in May, we revisit the “STV” and look at how its adoption might affect social policy and social issues.
We speak with Jordan Ellis, local organizer for BC-STV in the mid-Island region, Sandy McPherson, an organizer from Cowichan Valley, and Tanis Dagert, a participant in the Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform in 2004.
