CHLY focuses on “heart and soul” during its fall fund drive

October 7th, 2014 | Posted by pfmarchive in uncategorized

Escape the corporate media desert and make community radio your oasis for local, alternative, grassroots, and accessible music and information

chly oasis fund drive

Community radio is about volunteerism, social engagement, independent music, learning by doing, community capacity building, citizen journalism and more. Community radio volunteers are the cultural pioneers and opinion leaders of their local communities.

Close to one-half of these volunteers are students and student leaders, they are opinion-makers, newsmakers, and trend-setters in their communities, and future leaders of Canadian culture and society. As well, the majority of these volunteers nationwide are artists, political and social activists, and members of multiple civil society organizations and grassroots movements.

Your dollars go a very long way

CHLY-Heart-+-Soul_squareEach dollar invested in community radio goes immeasurably farther in our community than money invested in other parts of the broadcasting sector, and a far greater portion of that investment will stay in the community where it is invested, since the volunteer base is comprised of community-minded, grassroots, engaged citizens who participate in the local economy and use creative solutions to stretch their operating dollars.**

Kevin, Nick and Ashta will be in the studio for People First Radio supporting the efforts of CHLY 101.7 FM  — the Radio Malaspina Society in Naniamo, B.C. — in its annual fall fund drive. Please be generous! Support community radio with your pledge, donation, contribution, or volunteerism.

You can reach People First Radio live on-air during the fund drive. Call us at 250-740-1017 during the noon hour (Pacific time) on Monday October 13, 2014 and Thursday October 16, 2014. Or call the station any time during the week of Sunday October 12 to Saturday October 18.
